Review of the 1997 film Titanic
It felt right watching Titanic in 3D. There were no obvious 3D gimmicks which are predominant in today’s 3D movies. We relive the romance, the excitement and the drama which we experienced all those years ago, except this time through a pair of 3D glasses...

With studios re-releasing blockbusters in 3D one must ask the question: Is it for the audience’s benefit or for the studio’s monetary gain? Probably the latter, but regardless Titanic in 3D is an unforgettable “feast for the eyes”.

Being one of the first people in this country privileged to see Titanic in 3D, I was mesmerized by the added dimension which had the audience right inside the Titanic as it was sinking. We were there on the Titanic, as Jack & Rose were desperately running around searching for life boats & as those powerful waves of gushing sea water dragged them down the corridors.

It felt right watching Titanic in 3D. There were no obvious 3D gimmicks which are predominant in today’s 3D movies. We relive the romance, the excitement and the drama which we experienced all those years ago, except this time through a pair of 3D glasses.

3D does not enhance the enjoyment of a film if the story is disappointing as seen in recent 3D movies. However, Titanic not only has a great romantic & action packed story, but a superb soundtrack & special effects which were ahead of its time. Regardless if it's in 2D or 3D, you will be reliving an epic movie which will remain in your heart forever... JAKE 5.0 comment

EXTRA EXTRA

home Rob's review of Titanic in 3D
Titanic has always been a great film, but now with the added 3rd Dimension, it really is something special. You really need to see this at the IMAX and a hot tip is to get as far back in the seating as possible because you will get sea sick.

3D has come along way and although Titanic was made before 3D was around, the 3D rendering is pretty impressive. I'm guessing James Cameron spared no expense. As per usual with 3D retro fits, not all of the movie has been converted and you can see the slight double vision blur, but the parts that do work are worth the conversion. My favourite would have to be the engine room scenes that truly show how huge the old lady really was. The ending also literally takes your breath away.

When it comes to movies, I do appreciate the whole 3D fad that seems to be hanging around, but still go by the rule that if the story is shit then no matter how many dimensions you throw at me it's not going to work. It's the engagement of the movie that drives you along, and the extra dimension literally is just another dimension to enhance your experience, other wise it's just a demo of a new technology.

There is something special about seeing an old classic at the cinemas, you know that everyone there has seen it before, although there where a few restless boyfriends that seemed to have been dragged along by their girlfriends; so it's like a little club getting together. We've all done this before, but what the hell let's do it again because it's such a great film. That's my excuse anyway...ROBDIDO comment

home 'Titanic 3D' Has Huge Opening Day in China
Ray Subers from http://boxofficemojo.com:
20th Century Fox International is reporting that Titanic 3D opened to an estimated $11.6 million from 2,400 3D screens and 66 IMAX 3D screens in China on Tuesday. That's Fox's best opening day ever in China, and it's more than double Titanic 3D's weekend debut in any of its other markets.

In 1998, Titanic earned around $44 million in China. Since then, the Chinese market has expanded significantly, and Titanic 3D should easily outgross the original release within the week.

Since opening on Wednesday, Titanic 3D has already made at least $53 million overseas, and that doesn't even count any of its other markets on Tuesday. That brings the re-release's worldwide gross to over $80 million, and it brings Titanic's total gross across all releases to $1.924 billion
