Director: Alexander Payne
Starring: George Clooney, Shailene Woodley
'When it rains it pours' - and twice as hard in tropical Hawaii for poor old George Clooney as he comes to grips with some pretty hard life changing issues. Paradise won't immune you from your troubles, but at least for the characters in this film it seemed to lessen the burden.
Alexander Payne who took us "Sideways" has now taken us up and down with an emotional roller coaster of a film about loss and family values. George Clooney is busy looking after the family heritage, playing a land baron in charge of of a multimillion dollar piece of coastal land handed down from his descendents. When his wife has an accident he comes to the realization that he has neglected his own backyard.
George Clooney put's in the performance of his career with an emotionally charged role that is balanced by light comedic moments. The use of comedy in such a dramatic storyline, along with the traditional Hawaiian music, toned the feel of the film down a bit, so you sometimes have mixed feelings for the characters, but in the end it works, and makes for a very memorable film... Tissues will be needed... ROBDIDO
