From Scotland comes Sunshine on Leith, a charming musical which unfortunately won't break any box office records outside of the Scottish borders.

This enjoyable film is based on the songs of Scottish band The Proclaimers, just as the musical Mamma Mia! revolved around the songs of the phenomenally successful Swedish band ABBA.

The feel good story centres on best pals Davy (George Mackay) and Ally (Kevin Guthrie) who have returned from duty in Afghanistan to their home in Leith, just outside Edinburgh. The film deals with old and new romances, marital infidelities which threaten to shatter many relationships and the power of family and love.

Sunshine on Leith is a uniquely humorous, dramatic and poignant which promises not only to move the most insensitive of viewers, but also have them tapping their feet to the many catchy and enchanting tunes as the cast breaks out in song and dance.

Regardless of what goes on people's lives, the sadness, the misfortunes and the unexpected, there will ultimately be a ray of sunshine, as the characters in this film come to realise.

Adversely, many of the accents are extremely strong and so hard to comprehend that perhaps sub-titles should have been included for prints outside of Scotland.
