Director: Christopher Landon
Starring: Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller
Having watched this strangely titled film surrounding some dorky boy scouts who save a small town from a zombie invasion I was shocked - I'd entered the cinema expecting a very bad and low quality film based upon poor reviews and disappointing box office returns garnered in the USA on opening weekend.
However I was pleasantly surprised! This film was hilarious - one laugh after the next!
Production values were high, especially the clever zombie elimination effects which effectively shocked audiences through the sheer wizardry and brilliance of the special effects team.
A fresh cast of funny and talented performers complemented the film, notably Sarah Dumont as Denise, the cocktail waitress who taught the scouts a thing or two about fighting zombies.
This spoof is basically Porky's Meets World War Z and audiences will have a barrel of laughs. There's plenty of blood, gore and guts not to mention a wonderful supporting cast of flesh-eating zombies. The comedy is contagiously hilarious - the gags just keep flowing and the drama is deliciously violent.
A standout scene where Denise gives the young scout a lesson on kissing and relationships whilst surrounded by hungry zombies was hilarious. Scenarios such as these were a welcoming break from all the flesh-eating and head splattering violence.
Enjoyable and harmless fun (well not for the inhabitants of this small town) with plenty of gutter-level toilet humour and sexual references which should even raise the occasional chuckle from any prudes who may be watching.
Movie-goers who only enjoy fine cinema BEWARE!!
There's nothing refined about this film - just plenty of bawdy, immature gags which should appeal to the larrikin in all of us. JAKE
