Dreamworks release this enchanting movie just in time for the festive Xmas season hoping to ultimately include it on their list of animated box office juggernauts. Many huge Hollywood stars such as Hugh Jackman & Jude Law have come together, lending their voices to help create characters which young children will be mesmerised by.

The Guardians are a group of fantasy characters consisting of Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy & Sandman. While the children of the world believe in them the Guardians will always be there to protect them bringing hope, joy & wonder into their lives. But when Pitch Black a spirit, also known as the Bogey Man, starts implanting fear in children by turning their dreams into nightmares the children stop believing in the Guardians. They therefore enlist Jack Frost to aid them in ridding the world of this fear causing spirit by rekindling the children’s faith in them.

This movie is unique being the first time teaming up of all these characters in the one movie. The animation is of the highest level which one has come to expect from Dreamworks and as a premium experience it must be seen in 3D. The underlying themes: believe; reach out for your dreams and; goodness will always triumph over evil are prevalent throughout.

Produced on an incredible budget of US$145 million this movie will probably just be a moderate success as movies about Santa Claus don’t normally do well (with few exceptions). Hopefully movie goers won’t associate it with 2010’s “Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls Of Ga’Hool” as this was a critical and box office disappointment.
