Director: Dean Parisot
Starring: Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren
Looking old and weary, Bruce Willis returns as retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses, who has been wooed from retirement and must travel the globe with an elite team of equally ultra old-timers in search of a missing portable nuclear device which threatens world power. On their trail are a bunch of bad guys including terrorists, assassins and corrupt government officials who pave the way for all the action sequences.
Described as a "high octane action comedy", a feeling of pretentiousness lingers throughout, as the movie lacks drama and is very low on laughs. The opening comic book style credits suggest humour and what should have been a barrel of laughs, were occasional silly gags which failed to arouse more than chuckles from the audience.
The creme dela creme of Hollywood personalities who appear in this film fail to ignite any excitement owing to a tedious screenplay, complicating the story with too much plot which is hard to keep up with. The end result is a draining and very dull movie experience where even car chases, shootouts & explosive action sequences can't erode the blandness which is prevalent. JAKE
