Director: Ridley Scott
Starring: Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender
After all these years the Chariots of the Gods has finally been vindicated and we have found that star system our ancestors have been trying to tell us about. Even better, Ridley Scott has taken us in style on the starship Prometheus, showing us once again he truly is the master of SCI-FI. If only it didn't feel like Erich Von Daniken wrote the script!
Across the world cave paintings all show a similar image of a star system. Archeologist (Noomi Rapace & Logan Marshall-Green) put forward the theory that it's a star map and alien invitation. They convince the Weyland Corporation boss (Guy Pearce) to take them there. Why they used Guy Pearce in dodgy makeup instead of hiring John Hurt ;-), I'll never know? Might be due to all the propaganda floating around on the net in the build up. Check him out all those years ago back in 2012 speaking at T.E.D
Visually, this is an amazing SCI-FI leap in film making, but I would have loved it more if they went a little deeper and spent extra time on some scenes. It felt rushed and confused in places and I never really got to know the crew that well, although Michael Fassbender as the robot is great. The tech stuff is smartly imagined and the science pretty credible, along with the aliens as far as future concepts go. If your a Ridley Scott fan then your going to love the ending. ROB
