"All the world's a stage" - A line from Shakespeare that I remember from school, but that's about as far as I got with the Bard of Avon. Tell you the truth, I just don't understand the dialog. It just takes too much effort and when I think I'm beginning to get it, I come to the realization that it's not my cup of Earl Grey anyhoo!
Fans of Shakespeare will love this back stage documentary of the recent King Richard play that toured the world with headliners Sam Mendes and Kevin Spacey. But even if your not a fan, this doco is a great insight into life on the road of a traveling theater company.
A feeling of family and comradery is evident in the interviews and back stage antics. I always feel in awe when I watch these type of behind the scenes movies. The hard work and dedication is admirable and I can't but feel a little envious of wanting to join the club. A part of something special.
The play is taken around the world and the destinations themselves are interesting to follow, with the different theaters and sightseeing that the troop get up to. Even Australia gets a look in with the Lyric Theater in Sydney. Kind of sad that I missed it. Even though it's Shakespeare, the star attractions and modern approach looked pretty cool... until they opened their mouths! ROB
