Emotions are challenged in this drama/comedy which will reduce the most hardened of moviegoers to tears.
Jess (Drew Barrymore) and Milly (Toni Collette) have been the best of friends since childhood, supporting each other through good and bad times. They are both happily married, Milly with children and Jess desperately trying to become pregnant.
Tragedy strikes when Milly is told she has a malignant lump in her breast. She quickly learns that life is unfair – cancer doesn't discriminate and fate has intervened, drawing her unlucky number. Meanwhile, Jess falls pregnant and this reversal of fortune tests their friendship.
A wonderful script with just the right balance of humour and sentimentality analyses the emotions and insecurities victims of cancer experience. Barrymore and Collette are perfectly cast in the starring roles of a life time, complemented by Paddy Considine and Dominic Cooper as their respective husbands.
Miss You Already is a celebration of life and death which details the effect cancer has on family and friends and asks – does friendship have boundaries?
Movie-goers who have experienced the tragedy of cancer in family circles will relate only too clearly to this film. Heart-wrenching at times, audiences will be laughing and crying, as the story unfolds of a lady who in the shadow of death never loses her sense of humour. There can only be one realistic conclusion to this story - depressing and tearful. JAKE
