Director: Brad Peyton
Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Josh Hutcherson

Exit the lead Brendan Frazer who did not want to sign up for a rehash of “Journey To The Centre Of The Earth” which “Journey 2 Mysterious Island” obviously is.

Enter Dwayne Johnson who must only have signed on for a hefty pay cheque, as he seems content with second billing, and spends most of the film standing around smiling, letting the younger kids make all the decisions and wondering why the hell he agreed to make this second rate adventure flick in the first place.

There are many holes in the script and many uneasy viewing moments where “funny one liners” have backfired. Also the story seems very hurried; example fancy expecting the audience to believe that good old Dwayne can unravel a puzzle as to the location of Mysterious Island in barely 2 minutes!!

On a good note though the special effects were quite good and watching it in 3D was quite an experience. A good movie to keep the kids quietly seated in the cinema for 90 minutes!!... JAKE 6/10 comment
