Director: Joshua Michael Stern
Starring: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney
Coming so soon after Steve Jobs' death this would only have worked if it was good. Unfortunately it's not a well made film and I am pretty much going to blame the director, script and most of the actors. Sure Ashton Kutcher looks the part and nailed the mannerisms and the walk, but with such a lame script he really needed to pull off the performance of his life to save the film. The guy that played Woz was crap.
The story of how Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak started Apple from their parents garage back in the 70's up until the beginning of the iPod generation. Most people who have an interest in computers already know the story and there aren't that many revelations here except for how hard they went in portraying Jobs as an asshole. But we already knew that.
What a wasted opportunity with such a great true storyline of the nerdy underdogs taking on the world. It felt like the writers had a list of things they needed to tick off that needed to be in the film and went through the motions to get them in the film. It didn't have that urgency or energy that films like the Social Network had. There are also some tacky moments when they introduce important people that we are supposed to be in awe of. ROB
