Where other movies in this genre have succeeded this one has failed to deliver. The main problem is that it was long, dull & boring. There simply wasnít enough action to justify its unbearably long running time of 130min. After the opening spine tingling sniper scenes the story moved at a snailís pace where nothing much happened for 60min. A couple of car chases some punch ups and a shootout or two just seemed inadequate for an ďactionĒ movie. Added the intricate screenplay filled with many twists and turns left the audience with a feeling of restlessness, but thankfully, some funny one liners kept us all from nodding off.
Ultimately will this movie be a hit? Cruise has had a good track record but heís had some disappointments along the way. His past two non Mission Impossible flicks: Knight + Day & Age of Rock are prime examples. Could Jack Reacher make this his ďtragic threeĒ? The market was flooded in 2012 with films in this genre such as the hugely successful Skyfall so perhaps fickle movie goers have tired of such films. Also taking into consideration that this isnít a universally well known brand Iíd say the probability is high of it being snubbed for other movies. -- Tom Cruise isnít a great actor, but he must be credited for being a huge box office draw for all these years. Unfortunately however, this film didnít live up to expectations. The ending is left open for Jack Reacherís return in another adventure but will a sequel transpire? Highly unlikely I would think. JAKE
