Director: Christopher Nolan
Starring: Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway
Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan have cleverly thought out the Science in this latest Science Fiction epic that has been specifically filmed with IMAX cameras, although only in 2D. But don't worry as there are plenty of other dimensions to sink your teeth into on this 3 hour journey through time and space.
DO NOT SEE THIS AT THE SYDNEY IMAX - Their seats are not designed for proper feature length movies. It's a shame too because it's filmed for IMAX, but sitting in a cramped position for 3 hours ruined my whole experience. It felt like being trapped in the 5th dimension and nobody could hear my screams as I tapped out Morse code on my ailing knees.
The Earth is dying and turning into one huge dust bowl. We are running out of food so the logical step is to leave and start again. An opportunity is presented when a wormhole opens up near Saturn. The story is simple but the concepts and delivery that the Nolan brothers have presented are mind blowing. You might want to brush up on your General Relativity 101 beforehand because things get a little tricky when alternate dimensions, time space distortions, black holes and god knows what else are thrown into the mix. Absolutely brilliant shit by the Nolan Brothers once again.
Like in the film Gravity, everything is thought out for real with what it's going to be like in space. From what we already know to theoretical ideas still to come. If you like to pick apart your Science Fiction and put it under the microscope, then this is the film you have been waiting for. An instant classic. ROB
