Director: Martin Scorsese
Starring: Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley
Martin Scorsese continues his quest to not only preserve the great films of the 20th Century, but also entertain us along the way with the fascinating history behind their creations. A tribute to the father of films and science fiction himself, Georges Melies.
Orphan Hugo Cabret (Asa Butterfield), lives behind the long forgotten walls of a Paris train station. Caught stealing parts from the toy makers shop, he discovers a mystery behind the store owner (Ben Kingsley) that will lead him on an adventure to the moon and back.
The 3D promotional material for this film made it look like a good movie for young children. Wrong! Maybe back in the day when kids read books and tinkered around with gadgets that had moving parts, but today's kids were all all waiting for the 'Automaton' to turn into an 'Autobot' - in 3D!!!
I loved it. Always the fan of real life history interwoven into fiction, Scorsese has created the ultimate film buffs film... ROBDIDO
