Director: Sam Taylor-Johnson
Starring: Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan

This film is based on the first of a trilogy of books set around the relationship between college graduate Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson) and young business billionaire Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan). No further introduction is required to this story, as the book was a best-seller worldwide which transpired into this movie that has amassed an incredible US$400m fortune at the box office.

Described as an 'erotic romance' but more aptly bordering on 'perverse pornography' this movie redefines the word “play room”, and audiences will receive a crash course in bondage & discipline, dominance & submission, sadism & masochism , whips, leathers, dildos and every other element involved in your 'average everyday relationship'.

A silly script, wooden performances especially from Jamie Dornan and a story which is pathetic and embarrassing at best haven't discouraged avid fans of this 'literary gem' from storming the cinemas. The leading couple lacked the sexual chemistry required for such a sexually explicit film and Jamie Dornan’s casting was questionable, considering he was void of any screen presence whatsoever.

The moral decay in society is apparent when literary and celluloid fodder such as 50 Shades Of Grey reaches iconic status worldwide. The second installment is now in production, but the question that needs to be asked is: can this rubbish actually get any worse?
