Director: Doug Liman
Starring: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt

Edge Of Tomorrow is a futuristic, action-packed, science fiction thriller which will stun and delight audiences of all ages. CGI heavy with great performances from Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, this film reminds of Groundhog Day and Aliens.

The world has been invaded by aliens and the military cannot obliterate them as they have the ability to time-loop; reset to the beginning each time they are killed. This gives the creatures an advantage, as they are continually one step ahead and can perfect their plan to outsmart the military. Major Cage (Cruise) acquires the ability to time-loop, thus also having the tool to improve on his battle skills and together with Special Forces Vrataski (Blunt) attempts to save the world from these creatures.

It was refreshing Cruise uncharacteristically playing the role of a disgraced major, a coward and liar with zero combat skills who ultimately redeems himself upon being forced onto the battlefield. Blunt gives an incredible performance, perfectly cast against Cruise as the warrior deemed as the courageous saviour.

The concept of the 're-setting of time' could have been cheesy and laughable, but was well-executed with sharp and refined editing and a lightly humorous script which maintained audience interest. As with other movies in this genre, the laws of physics and time travel have been disregarded, as the concepts in this film are so ludicrously far-fetched on the accepted scientific platform that the events portrayed could never have occurred.

Edge Of Tomorrow is gritty, electrifying and incredibly effective in 3D and will captivate audiences regardless whether they are ardent fans of Tom Cruise.
