Temperatures where hot and 1970's anti establishment sentiments where at boiling point, so what better than a gay, Vietnam vet, bank robber from Brooklyn who's pissed off about the price of sex changes to get the crowd up in arms...

Director: Sidney Lumet
Starring: Al Pacino, John Cazale

It's said life is stranger than fiction and there is no better example than this story. Inspired from a small newspaper article about a bizarre New York bank robbery, it turned out to become one of the all time classics. Notably due to the great performances by Al Pacino and John Cazale.

This is the true life story of closet Gaylord John Wojtowicz (Al Pacino) who robs a bank to get money for his bum chum's sex change. Accompanied by his mate Sal (John Cazale) they end up in a hostage situation that turns into a media circus when the press find out his reasons for the robbery. What makes the story strange is that he was a normal guy with a wife and kids.

Pacino steals most the scenes and is helped by a great script that won an Oscar. Temperatures where hot and 1970's anti establishment sentiments where at boiling point, so what better than a gay, Vietnam vet, bank robber from Brooklyn who's pissed off about the price of sex changes to get the crowd up in arms. It seems every dog does have it's day, no matter how bad that day becomes. You will feel for Pacino's character, and no matter how futile his situation, hope that he get's away with it...
