I love a good horror and this one is OK. Nothing really stands out as special about it, but there where a couple of scenes that did send some hairs northwards on the back of my neck. A 10 year old girl (Jodelle Ferland) is saved from her abusive parents by social worker Emily Jenkins (Renee Zellweger) only to discover she isn't as innocent as cute as she looks.

Christian Alvart, the new face of German cinema has given us a fresh approach here and minimised on the horror makeup and special effects, but concentrated more on the storyline. Unfortunately for me it becomes a little thin towards the end and feels a little rushed in some scenes to get the story rolling.

The little use of effects actually contributed to the film for me as they slowly crept up and unexpectedly gave me a few frights. Renee was very impressive in her first attempt at horror and Ian McShane who plays the cop was great. A good enough film but don't expect too much popcorn flying through the air or your date holding on tight... ROBDIDO
