Director: James Cameron
Starring: Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana
Not since Star Wars has something come along that has revolutionized the cinema experience like Avatar. Immerse yourself in the world of Pandora and be amazed at it's beauty and magical vistas, take wonder at the plant life and have fun with the fauna.
Blue faced Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) has a fearless brave heart (like that other Aussie), who leads his adopted warrior clan, (like a Dancing Wolf) against the human invaders who are raping Pandora for profit just like they did to their own planet; from the roots up.
The Na'vi have a direct link to the land, and the Tree of Life. They are inter connected like a web, and I got so immersed in this web that when the Sky People with white faces start destroying it, I really felt for them.
Just like Jake and Grace (Sigourney Weaver) who inhabit this wondrous world through their Avatar's, and can't wait to link back in, so too did I through my 3D glasses. I didn't want to take them off... Talk about Escapism!
I'm still wearing them!... ROBDIDO
Very rare is it that a predicted blockbuster has me racing out to view a movie, but being a fan of Sci Fi, 3D and James Cameron, this is exactly what I did on the opening weekend of Avatar. I sat down and put my glasses on, watched and listened how the humans were traveling to an outer world with the aid of cryogenics.
Using the fusion of genes to immerse and understand the native 4m tall blue people(Na'vi). Some to rape the land of it's natural resources just as they did on earth, and others such as Jake(Sam Worthington) and Grace(Sigourney Weaver) to help the Na'vi. As these characters fell in love with the illuminous fauna surrounding them, I too fell in love with the land and people. One gorgeous Na'vi in particular played by Zoe Saldana.
The action on screen of these characters defending the land was overwhelming, finding me struggling for a breathe at times. This is an extraordinary world James Cameron has created. I challenge anybody to walk out of this movie and not be in love with Pandora and the natives that live amongst the trees.
James Cameron, you are the master! 9/9
