Starring: Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner
If you're looking for an action packed alien invasion 'get out the guns' type of film then you will not want to watch this. Arrival with Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner is a very quiet and insightful film filled with questions about our own civilization and also comes with a great twist.
The film starts with twelve massive black oblisks' appearing at different sites around the world. The US Government setup a base camp around one of them and call in a linguistics professor (Amy Adams) to try and figure out how to communicate.
The usual Army type airheads are represented in the film that just want to kill first and ask questions later, but that is far in between because for the most part, it has a very mesmerizing, softly spoken, dream like feel throughout the entire film.
It's good to see a lot more smart Sci-Fi being made and Arrival is up there with classics like Close Encounters of the Third Kind. An instant classic in itself and definitely one to add to the Blu Ray collection. ROB
