Director: George Waggner
Starring: Claude Rains, Lon Chaney Jr

The WereWolf is born in this classic horror from 1941. Set in Wales long before any American Werewolf ever got to London, the film has had a large influence on the werewolf legend we know through movies today.

Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr) returns home from America after the death of his brother, and makes amends with his father Sir John Talbot (Claude Rains) after many years. While visiting a group of Gypsies to get his fortune told, he is bitten by a werewolf and becomes The Wolf Man on the full moon.

It takes a while before we get to see old Wolfy and then we only get to see his feet transform, in fact we don't get to see much of fur face at all through out the film. Still for it's day the special effects must have scared a few girls. As for the story, it jumped all over the place and didn't really cut it for suspense. There was a bit on good and evil by Claude Rains that they could have developed further, but I'm sure the guy that took his gal whilst on shore leave back in 41 wasn't thinking too much about that.
