The advancement of science has given the world so much in the past few centuries, but at what cost. How much of this progress can be attributed to less than righteous methods is something that most of us would be shocked to discover but in retrospect be thankful of it's results. I could mention Nazi human experimentation at this point but remind myself that this 'is' a comedy, so won't go down that path.

This is the true story of 19th century body snatchers Burke (Simon Pegg) and Hare (Andy Serkis), who discovered that selling corpses to the Edinburgh Medical College was a very profitable business. But they had one slight problem, Supply! So being the Irish entrepreneurs that they were, decided to take mother nature into their own hands and start killing people.

I like a good dark comedy but really didn't find that many laughs here. In fact it turned out to be more of an interesting history lesson than comedy. Labels aside it's an enjoyable film, and a great return from legendary director John Landis -- "Is this a dagger which I see before me, The handle toward my hand?"... ROBDIDO
